Selection & recruitment are
very important elements of the human resource management in a business
organization. As per the Gamage (2014) the quality of the human resource of the
organization extremely depends on the effectiveness of these functions. If
selection & recruitment is wrong; That recruitment will be a huge lost
which the organization cannot afford. that kind of wrong recruitment will
damage the business internally and also externally.
Therefore, the overall target of
the selection & recruitment in the business is to obtain the quality
employees and the no of employees that are required to fulfill the objectives
of the business at minimal cost (Ofori & Aryeetey, 2011).
“Recruitment is the process of finding and attracting suitably qualified people to apply for job vacancies in the organization” as explained by Opatha (2010).It is a set of activities to attract job seekers who has the needed attitudes and abilities. This is very important to every business organization.
Types of Recruitment.
1. Through internal source recruitment
2. External source recruitment
- Promotions
- Transferring
- Hiring ex-employee
- Employee referrals
- Internal job postings
Above pointed internal recruitments
gives advantages and also disadvantages to the organization. Like easy and
quick fulfilment of vacancies, and also someone who did not get promotion will
be discouraged also.
External
recruitment will benefit to the organization to get skill, semi skill &
unskilled work forces. This is quite time concerned process.

Recruitment Interviews

One of major element in the recruitment process is
interview.
Interview is a conversation with
two or more people where ask questions and get answers. in this process interviewer
will ask the questions and interviewee will provide answers to those questions.
With the evolutions of technology, it can be conducted as telephone call or as
a video call too.
It will help to get an idea about attitude,
personal qualities, level of practical knowledge of the job candidate.
interview can be done as one to one or in group; that can be conducted as
formal or informal, structured or unstructured, group interviews, depth interview,
stress interview, panel interview and individual interviews.
Selection
Selection can be described as
process of choosing a correct person, who is most suitable for available job
vacancy in the organization.(Klug, 2017)
A better selection process will ensure that, the right
employee with good attitude will be in the organization.
Selection process will help to avoid any biasing in
recruiting the right candidate and it will eliminate the person who is lacking
of ability, proficiency and knowledge. In a good selection process below steps
will be there.
- Interview
- Reference Checking
- Medical test
- Final selection

There are few mistakes employers commonly do in recruitment like rejecting an overqualified candidates, hiring people less qualified than you, waiting for the perfect candidate, rushing to hire a candidate and expecting too much from the new employee. These are some points we should avoid when recruiting.

If we do not have proper mechanism we may lose good and talented employee and may select the bad once. So we have make proper planning on this recruitment. And system to make the result better.

We should select the employees with a good moral and attitudes.. Then only its easy to face all the problems inside and outside of the organisation with an amazing battalion.
